I'm sorry, I have no cookies for you. But you can bake your own.
This page basically exists, because I'm sick and tired of the modern web. I want to go back to when the web was fun and educational and weird. I'm coding this in a text editor. I write everything by hand. I use no CMS, no server side scripting (and, at the time of this writing, no client-side scripting either), no generators, needless to say no AI. I guess the terminus technicus is: I'm raw-dogging it.
So, what am I going to do here exactly? Short answer: Whatever the fuck I want. I might make this beautiful and useful, or I might just keep boring the whole wide world with aimless ruminations. And you know what? You should do the same. The modern platforms have given us the illusion of expressing ourselves, while at the same time measuring, sorting, tagging us and putting us all into boxes that are mostly convenient for them. So they can sell us by the bulk to the highest bidder.
Rant over! (For now) Let's do something productive. I've been thinking about what I can actually do here. I'm Gen X, so I'm from the last generation that will remember how the world was before the WWW, and why we all came here in the first place.
In no particular order, just as they come to my mind in this particular moment.
Mostly Rock of almost any flavour, but I also enjoy some Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift or some classical music or experimental and electronic stuff. As a good friend of mine once put it: "I like all music, unless it sucks." Here is an incomplete list of artists, also in no particular order:
Here is an awesome web radio, clearly made by people who love music. Radio Paradise
I love learning and I deeply believe that it's one of the most human things ever. At least it's one of the most me things ever. I've been called an insatiable infovore. :-D I remeber hearing the term "life-long learner" for the first time, and I thought "What?! What else? Why is there a word for this?"
I use Arch, btw
EndeavourOS to be specific.
Yeah, humans are not the best currently. But they still count and there are some I really like. Ants are awesome! I find it hard to remember their names (names in general tbh), but I love learning about them. How can an animal that doesn't even have what we consider a brain be so smart on a large scale? UPDATE: I guess one of the answers to that question is stigmergy
Also Corvidae, especially crows. I feed them daily and enjoy trying to befriend them, which is not that hard actually as long as you have patience. And peanuts.
I'm also a vegan. Animals have rights (why shouldn't they?) and we conveniently regard them as lesser in order to exploit and kill them — even to the point of exctinction.
